COURSE ASSESSMENT
This course is marked through a process of continuous assessment guided by your tutor following NCFE guidelines. This means that your qualification will be awarded according to your performance on assessments rather than by taking an exam.
We send the full course out with the units listed above, you then read through the course in your own time and complete the assignments which you send to your tutor for marking. There is no word count for these assignments. However, one sentence answers will be rejected and you will have to re-submit it for marking.
Upon verification of the activities, exercises and assignments, a certificate of achievement will be awarded by the national awarding organisation NCFE, as confirmation that your written work has met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the programme.

On the CD ROM accompanying this course you will find a selection of software. Your tutor will guide you when to install the software as some of this is time restricted and will run out. However if you install it at the correct time you will be able to complete the course using the software. It also provides you with a selection of examples to illustrate a particular point, and also to allow you to see how the files have been created.
COURSE DURATION
We recommended you spend approximately 100 hours of your time studying for the Web Design course. The pace of study is completely up to you. To give an example, if you dedicate 2 hours a week to the course it would take you a year to complete but if you could spare 4 hours a week you could complete it in six months.

This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about Website Design and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

NCFE Level 3 Award in Website Design
This course leads to a Level 3 Award for successful learners. This means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In accrediting the programme at level 3, NCFE attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 3 national qualification.
Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited by NCFE.
This is a dual certification course. You will receive a certificate from both the College and also the National Awarding body NCFE. Fees for both are included in the course fee.

Who can take the Diploma in Web Design?
It is open to anyone with a level of computer literacy. We will show you how to download free trial versions of the appropriate web design software. A reasonable level of literacy is also required
How is the course designed?
Our course in Web Design is a paper-based course offering you over 280 pages of tutorials and helpful information. It also includes a CD-Rom. You will be asked to submit 10 assignments for marking. However, it is a ‘step by step’ course presented in a friendly, easy to understand way. There is no jargon whatsoever!
What is on the CD ROM?
On the CD ROM accompanying this course you will find a selection of software. Your tutor will guide you when to install the software as some of this is time restricted and will run out. However if you install it at the correct time you will be able to complete the course using the software. It also provides you with a selection of examples to illustrate a particular point, and also to allow you to see how the files have been created.
We do not include full unrestricted versions of programmes such as Dreamweaver as they are continually being updated and as a professional web designer you will need to choose the correct programme to design your sites yourself.
Will I be able to become a professional Web Designer after taking the course?
At the end of the course you should have the confidence to create a professional website. You can then decide whether to look for a job as a junior web designer, or run your own business as a freelance web designer. We can offer you advice on finding work within the industry or even in starting up your own business.
Will I require further training?
Web Design is constantly changing and it is advisable to consider courses in Dreamweaver, Adobe, Flash, E-Commerce but all this depends on what level you wish to reach. If you designing websites for small business or clubs then our course is sufficient, if however you want to design sites for larger E-Commerce companies then you will need to consider further training.
