What's more, because the distance learning A' Level French Course is a fully comprehensive course, no prior knowledge is required.
The French A Level is split into two major components - AS and A2. The AS level can be sat in its own right.
FORMAT OF COURSE (Modules Overview)
There are many modules that make up the A-Level French. The main modules are as follows:
AS LEVEL FRENCH
The French AS Level course covers the syllabus in five modules of the following titles:
Module One: Family and Relationships Module Two: Healthy Living and Lifestyle Module Three: Media Module Four: Popular Culture Module Five: AS Unit 1 and Unit 2
A2 LEVEL FRENCH
The French A2 level course covers the syllabus in five modules as follows:
Module One: The Environment Module Two: The Multicultural Society Module Three: Contemporary Social IssuesModule Four: Cultural TopicsModule Five: Revision and Mock Exam
HOME STUDY SUPPORT
Each lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study. Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self-assessment questions.
There are thirteen tutor-marked assignments (known as TMAs). Your tutor will support you with your project formulation and give you guidance with appropriate topics and ideas.
You will be provided with comprehensive materials designed to provide you with everything required to complete your course of study. You will have your own personal tutor helping you with your course work and with any questions you may have. Plus you can contact a Student Advisors by email or phone for all the practical advice you may need – so we really are with you 100%.
Your tutor will give you various resource sites to visit and there is extra material in the student support portal. In addition there are several supporting texts books for this course.

At both AS and A2 level the course is supported by aural material on CD-Rom, and access to Nelson Thornes online resources at Kerboodle. Students will need to have internet access to benefit from these. Both the CD-Rom and online access are included within the cost of the course
COURSE SYLLABUS
This course prepares candidates for the new AQA French AS level syllabus 1651, for examination in 2010 and later years. Most candidates will then study the A2 syllabus 2651. The full Advanced Level qualification comprises AS and A2.
COURSE EXAMINATION
Assessment for the AS is based on one 2 hour written paper worth 70% of the final mark and a speaking and listening test worth 30% of the final mark.
Assessment for the A2 is based on one paper on listening, reading and writing lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes and worth 35% of the A Level, and one speaking test lasting 35 minutes (with 20 minutes preparation time) worth 15% of the A Level.
Availability
The French AS distance learning course is available now for first examination in June 2010. The French A2 course is available for first examination in June 2011.

Students are required to arrange and pay for examinations, students should note exam dates for the syllabus via the exam board website. Details of examination dates and examination enrolment deadlines are included in the 'Student Welcome Pack'.
HOME STUDY COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
We have a responsibility to ensure that students are only admitted to courses that are suitable for them.
Students applying for higher level courses are expected to have previously obtained the relevant GCSEs at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification or level of understanding. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and study further, so we try to keep our entry requirements to a minimum.
You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with full tutor support.
COURSE FEES
The enrolment fee for the A' Level French (Full AS + A2) home study course is £437.50 (inc VAT), though for a limited time we are offering you the opportunity to pay only £350 (inc VAT) which is a 20% discount if you enrol online and pay in full.
You can also opt for our Easy Payment Plan and enrol online today by paying a deposit of £87.50 and then 4 equal payments of £87.50 per month. The first instalment is paid about a month after you receive your course.

COURSE QUALIFICATION
AS/A2 - A level in French. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level.
